Black-necked Aracari (Pteroglossusaracari)
The black necked Aracari is a species of bird in the toucan family. It is a typical but thickset aracari and one of the larger aracaris with a single red band across its otherwise yellow chest. It has a black head with chestnut black ear coverts (feathers covering the ears). It is found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.
Aracaris generally roost socially throughout the year. Up to five adults and their fledged offspring sleep in the same hole with their long tails folded over their backs.
Both the male and female share the incubation and chick rearing duties.
